Teacher arrested on suspicion of rape, trespassing; suspected of molesting children
小中学生連続強姦：容疑の小学校教諭を再逮捕…警視庁

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) served a fresh arrest warrant to an elementary school teacher on July 16 on suspicion of trespassing and sexually assaulting a junior high school girl.
Yui Otsuka, 29, had already been arrested recently for trespassing onto private property. He has reportedly admitted to the allegations.
　東京・多摩地区で０８年１１月以降、下校途中の小学生の女児らが体を触られるなどの被害が５件相次いだ事件で、警視庁捜査１課は１６日、東京都稲城市立若葉台小教諭、大塚友意（ゆうい）容疑者（２９）＝相模原市緑区橋本１、住居侵入罪で起訴＝を強姦（ごうかん）致傷と住居侵入容疑で再逮捕した。捜査１課によると、容疑を認め「高学年を担当していてストレスがたまっていた」と供述しているという。【神澤龍二】

Otsuka lives in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, and is a teacher at Wakabadai Elementary School in Inagi, Tokyo. Otsuka has reportedly told police, "I was in charge of the upper grades and was stressed." According to police, Otsuka has admitted to dozens of acts of trespassing and sexual molestation in Bunkyo, Adachi, and Nakano wards, the Tama district, and Kanagawa Prefecture since around 2005. The victims have reportedly included at least one adult woman.
　捜査１課によると、大塚容疑者は０５年ごろから、文京、足立、中野区や多摩地区、神奈川県で他に十数件の住居侵入やわいせつ事件に関与したとする上申書を提出している。被害者には成人女性も含まれているという。

The investigation has led police to suspect Otsuka may also be involved in five molestations of young schoolgirls on their ways home from school from November 2008. The locations of the incidents were all close together, leading police at the time to suspect a single perpetrator.
　捜査１課によると、田無署や小平署管内では０８年１１月以降、帰宅途中の小学生の女児や中学生の女子生徒らが尾行され、わいせつな行為をされる事件が５件発生した。発生現場が近接していることなどの共通点から、同一人物による事件とみて捜査していた。

Otsuka's fresh arrest warrant alleges he shadowed a junior-high student as she was going home in the Tokyo district of Tama, entered her house and sexually assaulted her in January of this year. "I did it to satisfy my own selfish sexual desire," Otsuka has reportedly told police.
　逮捕容疑は、今年１月、多摩地区で帰宅途中の中学生の女子生徒を尾行し、自宅アパートに入ったところで、室内に上がり込み性的暴行をしたとしている。大塚容疑者は「自分の身勝手な性欲を満たすためにやってしまった」と供述しているという。

Otsuka was first arrested for trespassing at a 19-year-old woman's residence in Hachioji, Tokyo, on the night of June 27, after following her home and entering her apartment, reportedly with intent to rape. Afterwards, DNA samples from items left at four of the molestation scenes were found to match that of Otsuka.
　大塚容疑者は、６月２７日午後９時２０分ごろ、帰宅途中の東京都八王子市の女性（１９）を強姦目的で尾行。女性の自宅アパート敷地内に侵入したところを現行犯逮捕された。その後の調べで、４件のわいせつ事件の現場に残された遺留物が大塚容疑者のＤＮＡ型と一致したという。

　◇「仕事熱心だったのに」
Meanwhile, Otsuka's co-workers have expressed shock at the accusations, saying he was quiet, serious, and a devoted to his job.
　「おとなしくてまじめ。熱心な先生がなぜ」。女児らへの性的暴行事件への関与が疑われている大塚容疑者の教諭仲間は衝撃を受けている。

Last academic year, Otsuka was in charge of the sixth-grade class at an elementary school in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, where he worked for seven years after graduating from college. A male teacher at the school recalled, "He was young and well-liked by his students, enough that some of them would even brag about him to their friends in other classes."
　大学卒業後、今年３月まで７年勤務した東京都千代田区立千代田小では昨年度、６年生の担任だった。同僚だった男性教諭は「クラスには、若い大塚先生を他のクラスの友達に自慢する児童もいたほど」と振り返る。

Otsuka specialized in teaching science. Another male teacher was emotional as he recalled, "He would stay until late preparing science experiments. He was very passionate about his work."
指導教科の中で理科を専門にし、熱心に研究していた。別の男性教諭は「遅くまで残り、実験の準備をしていた。仕事熱心だったのに」と絶句した。

A graduate of Saitama University's education department, Otsuka is said to have aimed to be a teacher since his high-school days. He joined a karate club in college, and served as head of the club when he was in fourth year. A man who taught Otsuka karate at the time said that Otsuka passed an employment examination for the police, but after serious consideration, decided to pursue his "dream of being a teacher." The man said of Otsuka, "He passed exams for two rewarding jobs, so I thought he was a great person."
　大塚容疑者は、埼玉大教育学部卒。高校時代から教諭を目指していたという。同大学では空手の同好会に入部し、４年生の時には主将も務めた。当時、空手を指導した男性によると、大塚容疑者は警察官の採用試験にも合格していたが悩んだ末、「夢だった教師の道に進む」と話していた。男性は「やりがいのある職業に二つも合格し、立派だなと思っていたのに」と話す。

In a collection of graduation writings Otsuka wrote as a junior-high student, he described himself as a somewhat invisible presence, but said that he was a better person than people might think and that he liked being with people.
　「自分はカゲが薄いんじゃないか」。中学卒業時の文集では、自己否定するような記述の一方で、「でも僕は結構、案外いい人ですよ」「ああ見えてもさびしがり屋」ともつづっていた。

A former high-school classmate gave a somewhat darker picture of Otsuka: "He didn't stand out, and he seemed strangely quiet somehow."
